Before you cut: check the print
This is the step people skip, and it’s the one that ruins the result. Browsers and printers default to “Fit to Page”, which quietly shrinks everything by a few percent — enough that your ears won’t cover the bunny’s.
Print page 2 at 100% / Actual Size, then measure the square marked “1 inch — do not cut”. If it isn’t exactly one inch on every side, reprint before you touch any fabric.
How to sew them on
- Print and check. Print page 2 at Actual Size, measure the check square, then cut out the paper pieces and hold them against your bunny to confirm the fit before you cut fabric.
- Place and cut. One overlay per ear and per paw. Watch the print direction — keep the pattern running the same way on both ears, or you’ll end up with mirrored logos. Trace onto the reverse of the fabric and cut on the outline.
- Hold in place. Fabric right side up on the existing ear or paw. Pin or baste gently, keep it smooth without stretching, and check both sides look balanced before committing.
- Stitch and finish. Small, close whipstitches around the edge, catching only the surface fabric beneath — don’t sew through the back of the ear. Secure your ends and remove every pin.
A few things worth knowing
- These are overlays, not replacements. They sit on top of the bunny’s existing ears and paws, so there’s no seam allowance added. If you want a turned-under edge instead, add allowance outside the outline — folding the supplied shape under makes it too small.
- Test a scrap for fraying before you cut the real thing. Poly-satin cuts cleanly; fleece is more forgiving on raw edges.
- Plush sizes vary. This template is sized for a standard bunny-sized plush. Check the paper pieces against yours first — that’s what step one is for.
Now you need the fabric
The template is the easy half. The part people can’t find is fabric with their actual school on it — licensed collegiate fabric covers around 150 colleges, and there are nearly 6,000 in the US.
